A Cartouches is a Hieroglyphic nameplate or seal. Every ancient Egyptian pharaoh, king, and queen hand a cartouche that spelled out their names or a descriptive saying in the hieroglyphic symbol. Royal cartouches are throughout the ruins of ancient Egypt, inscribed on walls of temples, tombs, and statues, bearing information about this most interesting civilization.
